SEVENOAKS LOYALTY CARD - LATEST NEWS

Dance duo pick out a £1k Superdraw winner
Dance duo pick out a £1k Superdraw winner
Chronicle, Thursday, February 2, 2012

Stars of Britain’s Got Talent waltzed into town this week to make a Sevenoaks shopper £1,000 richer.
Street dance act Twist and Pulse was the celebrity act lined-up for the Sevenoaks Loyalty Card Superdraw.
The pair broke off from negotiations for a part in this year’s Stag panto, Aladdin, at the to pull out the winning card from an overflowing tombola.
Twist and Pulse – Ashley Glazebrook and Glen Murphy – were flanked on the Stag stage by members of the Chamber of Commerce and the Chronicle.
The pair were staggered at the response to the Superdraw.
“The loyalty card scheme is a really good idea and you can see how popular it is by looking at the tombola,” said Glen, 21.
“It’s a good way to keep the community tight and together.
“Everyone seems so supportive of it because so many have taken part.”
And Ashley, 20, added: “It felt good to pull out the card that has made someone £1,000 richer.”
Members of the Sevenoaks Loyalty Card scheme contributed an extra £10 to the special Superdraw pot to fund the prize money.
The draw was planned to give a boost to traders during the traditional post-sales downturn in January.
“Judging by the way shoppers responded and filled the tombola, it worked,” said Sevenoaks Chamber of Commerce director Mark Tuvey.
“Now we are working hard to prepare for the loyalty card’s first birthday, renewing the membership and announcing plans to keep the scheme fresh and exciting, and working hard for shoppers and traders.”
Chronicle editor Roger Kasper said: “It will be a great pleasure to see the loyalty card winner spending their winnings and benefiting the Sevenoaks economy – I wish them the very best.”
The loyalty card scheme was launched almost a year ago in response to fears over the number of shop closures on the High Street.
Since then 118 members have signed up to the scheme and an estimated 15,000 number of cards have been submitted, equivalent to £900,000 being spent in town.
The lucky winner of the £1,000 vouchers will be contacted by Chronicle staff today (Thursday).

The Sevenoaks Loyalty Card bagged its 100th member – just 77 days after being launched in town.
